SOILS AND PASTURE
Dapper has majority heavy red fertile soils and is approximately 85% arable and contoured for farming. Recently 172 hectares has been limed, and six paddocks approximately 224 hectares, sown to mixed pastures including plantain, chicory, lucerne and premier digit. Other paddocks have older stands of lucerne and phalaris mixed with native grasses.
Dapper is well watered with two and a half kilometres of frontage to Sandy Creek with permanent water holes. Additionally, Dapper has a solar pump which pumps approximately 20,000 L/day out of a well to two tanks (20,000-gallon capacity/tank) on the highest points then reticulating back through a troughing system.
Dapper also has approximately 10 dams including a major water storage dam that covers 10 acres. Dams are contoured to maximise catchment and minimise erosion.
